J.L. Benson

J.L.Benson (J. Leonard Benson), Professor Emeritus of Ancient Art and Archaeology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, is a distinguished scholar who specialised in Greek vase painting. His interests also include the field of European decorative arts and nineteenth-century American painting. Since 1953 he has published numerous articles in scholarly journals and more than a dozen books.
